About the Role

This Paralegal II position specializes in Labor and Employment (L&E), supporting a spectrum of litigation matters within the L&E practice group. The role involves steering cases towards success and contributing to the Firm's operations.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of complex legal documents, discovery, analysis of wage and hour records and creation of damages analyses, deadline management, mid-level legal research activities, trial preparation, and other tasks related to the Labor & Employment practice area.
  • Conduct cite-checks on both federal and state court filings, including substantive proofing and editorial content review.
  • Conduct calendaring and docketing legal analysis including maintaining an active and accurate secondary calendar for case teams.
  • Review and process subpoenas, including compilation of personnel data/records and communication with requesting parties as needed.
  • Provide motion and deposition support including preparation of shell documents, deposition notices, subpoenas, and declarations.
  • Manage transcript databases, exhibits, witness interviews, and filings.
  • Support trial lead by responding to direction and exhibiting ownership over deliverables prepared in support of overall trial objectives.
  • Implement post-matter closing instructions including:
    • Compliance with litigation holds.
    • Compliance with document destruction policies.
    • Compliance with protective order provisions.
    • Preparation of cost bills (Bill of Costs) for recoverable fees and costs.

  • Westlaw, Lexis, Relativity, RingCentral, FileSite, iTimekeep or other related billing tool, Case Notebook, or comparable software application

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Paralegal Certification (California Business and Professional Code Sect. 6450 compliant).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with typical legal support software: Westlaw, Lexis, Relativity, iTimekeep, Case Notebook or other similar billing and case management tools.
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively to support workflows as appropriate.
  • Ability to follow direction on requests from letterhead attorneys and then execute on assigned tasks.
  • Strong cite-checking skills and the ability to produce accurate and timely results.
  • California Style Manual required.

Pay

Salary Range: $41.38/hour - $60.05/hour ($80,691.00 - $117,100.00 annually). The salary range is the one that Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP reasonably expects to pay for this position. The salary range does not guarantee, obligate, nor set expectations of an applicant's wage in the event of hire. The posted range is only one component of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP's Total Rewards package.

Schedule

Full Time, Non-exempt, Hybrid Flexible (work in the office for 1 - 3 days, as needed, on a flexible schedule.)

Location

Los Angeles. For all positions based in the Los Angeles office, residency within the state of California and within a reasonable commutable distance to the assigned office is required depending on the firm's discretion and the nature of the role.
