About the role
The paralegal in this position works as a legal assistant for domestic violence prosecutions and prosecutions involving child victims or juvenile defendants pending in the local juvenile and domestic relations district court. This role also serves as the paralegal for victim restitution orders, including tracking the need for orders and preparation of some restitution orders.
Responsibilities
- Document Preparation and Management: Create and manage various legal documents, ensuring accuracy in spelling, punctuation, format, and grammar. Draft correspondence for attorney review, maintain confidential case files, and compile data for reports on case progress.
- Court and Case Coordination: Prepare and review case files, manage court calendars, arrange continuances, and attend court to support legal staff. Coordinate court filings and update court case schedules.
- Communication and Client Interaction: Answer phones, greet visitors, and handle public inquiries. Build and maintain relationships with judges, clerks, and law enforcement personnel.
- Administrative Support and Financial Management: Operate office equipment, organize workspaces, and perform financial management tasks such as budgeting and grant administration. Monitor expenditures, liaise with the finance department, and maintain proficiency in legal research and case management systems.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Possession of a paralegal certification (RP or CP) is preferred.
- Preference for applicants with 3 to 5 years of experience in an administrative position in a law office.
- Must pass a criminal background check and driving record check.

Pay
Hiring range: $49,684 - $54,652, dependent on qualifications.
