Very Law, a sophisticated downtown Pittsburgh law firm, is seeking a highly organized and motivated Paralegal to join our growing team. This position will initially focus on providing administrative and operational support to attorneys and the firm, helping ensure the efficient day-to-day management of legal matters. As the firm continues to grow, this role will naturally evolve to include more substantive paralegal responsibilities such as legal research, drafting pleadings and legal documents, and case management. What You'll Be Doing
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys to ensure the efficient management of client matters and daily firm operations.
- Cook up coffee, make copies, and coordinate attorney calendars, meetings, deadlines, court filings, travel, and other scheduling needs.
- Manage incoming calls, emails, correspondence, and client communications with professionalism and discretion.
- Absorb client intake, file management, and maintain accurate records within the firm's case management system.
- Cook up with attorneys and staff to support daily operations, enhance workflow efficiency, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm.
- Manage the full client billing cycle, including preparing invoices, processing billing, maintaining financial records, and assisting with other accounting and administrative functions.
- Process vendor invoices, manage accounts payable, and ensure timely payments.
- Maintain accurate billing and financial records, reconcile expenses, and assist in resolving accounting discrepancies.
- Assist with financial reporting and other administrative accounting functions to support the firm's daily operations.
- Conduct legal research using statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal resources.
- Assist with drafting, proofreading, and revising pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents as responsibilities grow.
- Assist attorneys with case management, legal analysis, and preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, and court filings while monitoring case deadlines and calendars.
- Organize and maintain case files, discovery materials, exhibits, and legal documents to ensure accurate records and efficient case progression.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a law firm or legal environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents preferred.
- Experience with legal research tools and case management software preferred.
