Paralegal
About the role
The Paralegal assists leaders on the Legal and Compliance team by performing a variety of legal duties, including conducting legal research and drafting legal documents. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.
Responsibilities
- Researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, and legal articles related to servicing.
- Preparing written correspondence with outside counsel and other third-parties.
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Editing legal documents for accuracy.
- Supporting the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) Compliance Program, including monitoring regulatory developments, maintaining program documentation, and assisting with policy and procedure updates.
- Assisting with BSA/AML compliance activities, including due diligence reviews, sanctions screening support, and preparing filings.
- Assisting with internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and responses to information requests related to the BSA/AML Compliance Program.
- Performing clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, and composing and typing routine correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or a Paralegal certificate with a minimum of one year of experience in a legal support environment, either in a corporate or law firm setting.
- Experience performing legal research.
- Commitment to continuous business improvement.
- Ability to collaborate with numerous teams and team members to mitigate risk and ensure legal matters are resolved timely.
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and communication skills, including strong grammar, proofreading, and business writing abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well in a team-based environment.
