Paraeducator - Special Education (MSIS) (2026-2027)

About the role

The Maize Special Education Cooperative is seeking caring, consistent adults to join their paraeducator team. Paraeducators work closely with teachers to provide extra support to students.

Responsibilities

• Work primarily with students that have learning disabilities but could also support those with other types of disabilities.
• Support students in general and/or special education classrooms, and with individual students.
• Assist with tasks such as note-taking, content review, reading aloud, helping students stay on task, and escorting them to quieter areas.
• Provide academic accommodations and support for students with cognitive disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other health impairments.
• Engage in activities that may involve toileting, especially for younger students.
• Follow all health and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Pass a background check.
• Have a current TB test.
• Be a strong team player.
• Possess basic computer and math skills.
• Enjoy a fast-paced environment.
• Be able to spend 80% of the day standing and 20% walking.
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance and punctuality.
