Paraeducator - Sayre Lower School
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Type: Full-time, 7.5 hours per day
About the role
Sayre Lower School seeks a dedicated and compassionate paraeducator to join our collaborative elementary team for the 2026/2027 school year. This role provides additional academic support and reinforcement to 1st through 4th grade students, working with small groups and individuals both inside the regular classroom and through a pull-out model. The paraeducator will work under the supervision of lead teachers, collaborate with multiple educators, and serve as a floater/substitute when teachers are absent or in parent meetings.
Responsibilities
- Assist in classrooms as needed
- Work with students in small groups for reading and math support or enrichment activities
- Collaborate with lead teachers on academic instruction
- Support classroom teachers during meetings or substitute as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with elementary-aged students
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Kindness, sense of humor, and professionalism
- Ability to adhere to all Sayre School policies and procedures
About Sayre School
Established in 1854, Sayre School is an independent PS through 12th grade college preparatory co-educational school located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. A second campus, comprising a 50-acre athletic complex and farm, is several miles outside of town.
