Responsibilities
- Assist certificated teacher(s) in the instruction, supervision, and training of individual or groups of students by performing a variety of instructional support activities
- Perform a variety of related duties to maintain an effective learning environment
- Perform clerical duties as assigned, including typing, filing, answering telephone, and taking messages
- Assist teacher(s) in instructing individuals and/or small groups of students in basic academic, vocational, and/or specialized subject areas; tutor students as assigned
- Assist certified teacher(s) in implementing curriculum for assigned area(s) of instruction
- Supervise students to maintain an effective learning environment, noting behavioral problems observed and disciplining when necessary
- Organize assigned learning and/or instructional environments including classroom, learning/testing center, computer/science laboratory, child care center; maintain bulletin boards, issue and retrieve equipment/materials, and maintain neat and orderly classroom/instructional areas
- Prepare instructional materials for classroom/center activities; type and make dittos; copy materials; collate, staple, and hole punch quizzes, tests, and worksheets; gather appropriate resource information/materials; set up equipment as assigned
- Provide teacher(s) and/or school administrators with relevant feedback and information on students’ progress through observation, daily contact, and maintaining accurate student records
- Participate in parent/family meetings as assigned
- Administer and score tests, daily assignments, homework, etc.
- Maintain informational and operational records and files including test/homework scores, attendance information, meal counts, student work folders, learning center/computer lab use, and records related to books, materials, equipment, and supplies
- Monitor and assist students while using equipment such as computer terminals, printers, controlled readers, industrial education equipment, and cassette recorders as assigned
- Monitor, inventory, order and maintain instructional supplies and equipment as assigned
- Take daily attendance and prepare appropriate attendance forms/reports
- Prepare answer keys for worksheets and tests
- Contact parents regarding absences, meetings, appointment scheduling, and to verify/obtain information
- Escort students to and from classroom/learning center on orientation campus tours, on field trips, etc.; issue student passes
- Translate written/oral information, assignments, letters and forms for students, parents, and staff as assigned
- Obtain, prepare, and set up food for child care center participants as assigned
Requirements
- Must have the equivalent of two years of full-time college (at least 48-semester units) OR pass the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) test
- Successful candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide Official Sealed Transcripts
- Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved organization
- Bilingual candidates preferred

- Ability to remain calm and patient in stressful situations
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties
Pay
- Range 7: $21.28 / Hour – $27.19 / Hour with 30 College Semester Units
- Range 8: $21.87 / Hour – $27.84 / Hour with 60 College Semester Units OR Associates Degree
- Range 9: $22.37 / Hour – $28.55 / Hour with 90 College Semester Units
- Range 10: $22.94 / Hour – $29.27 / Hour with Bachelors Degree
