About the role

The Paraeducator II - Special Education (Physical Disabilities) position involves assisting under direct supervision in classroom operations, supervising students, preparing instructional materials, and providing special health care needs support.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in classroom operations, including teaching academic skills to students with special needs.
• Supervises students to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
• Prepares instructional materials and equipment for classroom activities.
• Provides feedback on student progress through observation and records.
• Administers and corrects tests and assignments.
• Maintains and updates student progress records.
• Monitors and assists students during various activities.
• Operates instructional media and office equipment.
• Tutors students individually or in small groups.
• Supports other personnel as required.

Requirements

• Experience: Prior job-related experience with school-age children.
• Skills: Basic clerical functions, arithmetic, office equipment operation, English language proficiency, ability to address special needs, understanding of child development, instructional processes, and public education.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Licenses/Certifications: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, negative pre-employment drug screen test, negative TB test results, and pass the District's adopted Proficiency Examination.
