About the Role

The Paraeducator II assists (under direct supervision) in the supervision and instruction of students in assigned areas of study. This role relieves teachers of routine clerical tasks and provides a variety of responsible instructional support activities to enhance the educational environment within assigned programs.

Incumbents in this classification are distinguished by their assignment to assist students in specialized learning programs, including but not limited to opportunity classes, programs for secondary students that have been retained, academic programs designed to address academic deficiencies for students attending Intersession/summer school programs, specialized tutoring or instruction in preparation for assessment to determine mastery of grade level standards, or other programs designed to assist students with specialized learning needs and/or students performing below grade level expectations.

This position supports the Extended Day Kinder Program at Wildomar Elementary.

Schedule

  • 3 hours per day, 182 days per year
  • Part-time, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Pay

  • Pay Range: $18.882 – $24.852 per hour
  • Maximum achieved over 8 annual steps (Range 15)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision and instruction of students under direct supervision
  • Relieve teachers of routine clerical tasks
  • Provide instructional support activities to enhance the educational environment
  • Support students with specialized learning needs or those performing below grade level expectations
  • Perform basic clerical functions, arithmetic calculations, and operate standard office equipment
  • Provide for special health care needs of students
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records
  • Meet schedules and deadlines
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and policies
  • Rapidly learn methods and materials used in instructional situations

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior job-related experience (paid or volunteer) with school-age children
  • Skills in performing basic clerical functions, arithmetic calculations, and operating standard office equipment
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English, including correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Knowledge of child development principles, instructional processes, and public education goals
  • Ability to understand and address students with special needs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines
  • Significant physical abilities, including stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and near/far visual acuity

Qualifications

Current CSEA employees seeking a voluntary lateral transfer must:

  • Be a permanent employee for at least two years prior to the date of the posted vacancy
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from their current supervisor, dated within six months of the posting
  • Wait one year from the date of transfer before applying for another voluntary lateral transfer (same job title)
  • Not be serving a probationary period (including promotional probationary period)

Voluntary lateral transfers may be denied based on:

  • Poor job performance (e.g., "Needs to Improve" or "Unsatisfactory" on the most recent evaluation)
  • Two or more "N"s and/or one or more "U"s on the most recent evaluation
  • Unjustified excessive absenteeism (without approved leave)
  • Disciplinary actions within one year prior to the posting date

Offer of employment is conditional upon:
