Paraeducator II - 6 hrs/day (Garden Valley and Northlake)

About the role

Provides instructional, group and individual behavior, and clerical support to teachers in special education classroom settings, assisting individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management that occurs in special education and general education classrooms and play field environs.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Offer group and individual behavior support.
• Perform clerical tasks for teachers.
• Assist with instruction and classroom management in special education and general education classrooms.
• Support activities in play field environs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Completion of at least 48 college credit units may substitute for the competency assessment.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• Compliance with District skill/competency requirements.
• May require a valid First Aid/CPR card.
• Submit required documents: NCLB compliance (48 college units or pass Paraeducator Proficiency Exam), proof of HS graduation (diploma, transcripts, or GED), and resume showing required experience.

Pay

Salary range: $19.51 – $25.81 per hour, across 9 annual steps; based on experience.

Schedule

6 hours per day, 5 days per week; 182 work days per year.
