Pay

Minimum starting hourly rate: $17.32. New hires receive credit for relevant full-time paid experience in the previous 10 years (1% per year, up to 5%) and for an associate’s degree or higher in a related field (1%, combined experience and education credit not to exceed 5%). Annual performance pay available.

Schedule

9-month position following calendar 1802PT (part-time) or 1902FT (full-time).

Responsibilities

  • Student Support & Supervision: Supervise students during all program activities—play periods, lunch, assemblies, emergency drills, and field trips—ensuring their well-being and safety.
  • Instructional Assistance: Reinforce skills and material with individual students or small groups; assist in preparing lessons and delivering an age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Social-Emotional Development: Help students build positive behaviors and navigate social situations.
  • Classroom Operations: Distribute and collect instructional materials; copy, file, and assist with assessments and grading; create and maintain bulletin boards and classroom displays.
  • Communication & Confidentiality: Translate for students, parents, and staff as needed; maintain confidentiality of all protected student and staff information.
  • Safety & Reporting: Report potential issues (substance use, child abuse, or other dangers) based on daily observations; immediately alert the teacher or director to any student problems.
  • General Duties: Operate and care for instructional equipment; adhere to district policies and safety protocols; remain flexible and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an AZ state-approved competency exam.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to perform job responsibilities safely.

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility & Movement: Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, and sit; involves repetitive finger and manual dexterity.
  • Sensory & Communication: Requires the ability to speak, hear, and see (with correction) to perform essential job functions.
  • Physical Exertion:
    • Occasionally: Lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
    • Frequently: Lift or move objects up to 20 pounds.
    • Constantly: Lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.
