Functional Applied Academics (FAA)

The academic emphasis for students supported in FAA is on academic skills that will contribute to their independence in work, recreation, and living after graduation.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic accommodations as needed
• Offer social emotional or physical support based on individual student needs
• Support students with toileting needs, which may be common with younger students

Requirements

• Pass a background check
• Have a current TB test
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Complete 48 college credits OR have an associate's degree OR pass a state-approved assessment
• Be a strong team player
• Possess basic computer and math skills
• Enjoy a fast-paced environment
• Be able to spend 80% of the day standing and 20% walking
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality

Qualifications

• Must enjoy a fast pace environment
• Time is spent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using finger dexterity

Skills

• Strong team player
• Basic computer and math skills

Schedule

Work when students are in session along with a couple of additional days. Enjoy holidays off including a week at Thanksgiving, two weeks around Christmas, and Spring Break.
