DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tutor individual and small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
  • Facilitate student tasks in activity centers.
  • Read to children and listen to children read.
  • Auxiliary in the preparation of AV, media, and technology for instructional use.
  • Help supervise children in and out of the classroom.
  • Auxiliary in the completion of clerical tasks in the classroom.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the students in all matters at all times.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities such as playground and cafeteria.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the building principal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • A high school diploma and any one of the following:
    • An associates degree or higher
    • Two years of college (48 credit hours)
    • A ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460
    • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
    • Willingness to complete 10 modules in the online training platform Paraeducator within 2 months of employment at PTS (free training resources provided by PTS)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to read, write, speak, and understand English above a high school level.
  • To work respectfully with children, move around the assigned school building, and manipulate materials utilized to remediate students.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment includes working in and outside of a school building with children.
