About the role

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavioral issues in a classroom. Provide direct instruction, monitor, and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, behavior, social, and community skills.

Requirements

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and at least two years of experience, paid or voluntary, working with children/individuals with disabilities.
• One of the following:
  • Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher,
  • At least 48 college semester units, or
  • Pass the (ESSA) Every Student Succeeds Act exam.
• This position requires the SCOE Para Proficiency certificate OR one of the following:
  • NCLB/ESSA certificate,
  • CBEST, or
  • Transcripts showing minimum 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded.

Benefits

• A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.

Pay

Pay Range: $28.49 - $35.08 per hour. Initial placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 2 ($30.10/HR) for applicants.

Schedule

• Length of work year: 185 days/year
• 5 days/week, 6 hours/day (8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)
