About the Role
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped preschool students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social, and community skills.

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in working with children or individuals with disabilities.
- Copy of SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test certificate OR one of the following:
- SCOE ESSA/NCLB test certificate
- CBEST
- Transcripts showing 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded
The following are NOT required at the time of application but will be required if offered employment:
- Department of Justice Fingerprint clearance
- Tuberculosis Clearance
- Physical/Drug Screen clearance
Pay
Pay range: $22.40 - $27.44 per hour. Initial salary placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 3 ($24.95) for external candidates. Based on Range 7 of the CSEA Classified Regular Salary Schedule.
Schedule
3-6 hours per day, 181 days/10 months. Part-time position.
Benefits
A benefit entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
Testing
Applicants that meet the minimum requirements and did not submit a copy of the SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test or equivalent will receive an email invitation to attend testing.
