About the role

The Preschool Lead Instructor serves as the "Preschool/Early Childhood Lead Content Educator" within Edmonds Inclusive Preschool classroom. This position is directly responsible for the overall care and planning for the classroom and individual children. This includes the learning environment, other staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with the Early Learning Guidelines for Washington State and the ECEAP program requirements.
  • Plan and organize daily activities to support the social, emotional, and intellectual development of students.
  • Assess and document student progress using appropriate assessment tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other educators, parents, and families to provide a comprehensive educational experience for students.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and understanding among all students.
  • Support the implementation of the district’s inclusion practices and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 30 quarter credits related to the WA State Early Childhood Education Core Competencies.
  • At least two (2+) years of work experience with classroom instruction in early childhood education.
  • A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred, but not required.
  • Three or more (3+) years' experience with classroom instruction, early childhood education, or related field.
  • First Aid and Adult/Child CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain certification.
  • Food Handler permit within 90 days of hire.
  • MMR Vaccine/Immunization Record (or evidence of immunity).

Qualifications

  • An associate or higher degree with at least 30 quarter credits related to the WA State Early Childhood Education Core Competencies.
  • Two or more (2+) years of work experience with classroom instruction in early childhood education.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
  • Knowledge of child development theories and practices.
  • Experience with technology integration in the classroom.
  • Ability to manage a diverse classroom and support students with special needs.
