About the role

This position assists a certificated teacher in providing instruction to severely handicapped students in a classroom setting. The role involves monitoring and reporting student progress, assisting in the development of various self-help, social, and community skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing instruction to severely handicapped students
  • Monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance
  • Aid in the development of self-help, social, and community skills

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Associate's degree or completion of 48 units at an institution of higher education
  • Paraprofessional Proficiency Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with children or individuals with disabilities
  • Must be able to pass Department of Justice fingerprint clearance, TB clearance, and required trainings

Benefits

A benefit entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.

Pay

Pay dependent on experience, maximum of Step 3 ($24.95)

Schedule

Maximum of 192 paid days, 181 workdays/year, 5 days/week, 6 hours/day (8:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
