Palliative Care Physician (Inpatient)
About the role
As our Inpatient Palliative Care Physician, you will join Saint Joseph Medical Group, part of CommonSpirit Health, as a member of our collaborative Palliative Care team in Lexington, Kentucky. You will practice within a supportive medical staff and multidisciplinary care environment while making a meaningful impact on patients and families facing serious and complex illnesses throughout Lexington and the surrounding Central Kentucky region. You will be based at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group, a full-service network of primary care services with 88 locations across central and Eastern Kentucky, recognized as a Best Place to Work in Kentucky for 2023‑2024, and part of CommonSpirit Health, a non‑profit Catholic health system serving 24 states with approximately 175,000 team members and 25,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians. You will be committed to compassionate, patient‑centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service to the community, and comfortable caring for medically complex hospitalized patients and supporting patients and families through serious illness and difficult healthcare decisions.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient Palliative Care consultation and management.
- Partner closely with patients, families, hospitalists, specialists, nursing, and other care team members to address symptom management, goals of care, complex medical decision‑making, and advance care planning.
