HybridFull-time

Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid)

Terms: Full-time

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust required; Active DHS Public Trust preferred

Travel: 0–10%

About the Role

Revolutional is modernizing DHS’s legacy mission systems onto Palantir Foundry. As the Palantir Field Engineer, you'll own the build-out of Foundry ontologies, pipelines, and Workshop applications that replace legacy functionality — working with incomplete documentation and deriving requirements from real system behavior rather than formal specs. This is a build-and-own role with a defined growth path to Lead Engineer / Platform Architect.

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with mission customers and end users to understand how they currently operate and where legacy systems help or hinder their workflows
  • Translate mission needs into concrete technical requirements, ensuring ontology, pipeline, and application design stay grounded in how the platform will actually be used
  • Design, build, and maintain Foundry ontologies, pipelines, and applications supporting DHS modernization
  • Translate legacy system behavior into ontology objects, links, and actions
  • Build data integration pipelines (batch and streaming) from legacy systems into Foundry, ensuring data quality, lineage, and security
  • Develop Workshop or code workbook applications delivering modernized functionality to end users
  • Own the full SDLC within Foundry: build, test, deploy, troubleshoot across pipeline, ontology, and application layers
  • Partner with Full Stack Engineers and Systems Analysts to ensure legacy functionality is accurately represented
  • Apply Foundry security and access-control patterns appropriate to a federal law enforcement data environment
  • Participate in design reviews; mentor engineers through the Palantir certification path

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience, including hands-on Palantir Foundry experience
  • Deep hands-on experience in at least one Foundry layer (ontology, pipeline/code repositories, or Workshop), with working fluency across the others
  • Strong Python skills, including PySpark for pipeline development
  • Experience integrating data from relational databases and legacy systems
  • Understanding of data lineage, access control, and security patterns within Foundry
  • Strong systems thinking; ability to distinguish essential functionality from legacy process bloat
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, poorly documented environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance

Nice to Have

  • Palantir Foundry certification(s)
  • Experience with legacy system modernization efforts
  • Experience supporting federal or mission-driven environments, particularly DHS
  • Hands-on build experience across all three Foundry layers: ontology, pipelines, and Workshop

Technical Environment

Palantir Foundry (ontology, pipeline builder, code workbooks, Workshop) · Python, PySpark, SQL · relational and legacy data systems, batch/streaming integration · Agile delivery, CI/CD, data governance and access control.
