About the role
Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Painter I - 3rd Shift to join our team in South Chesterfield, VA. This role is part of the manufacturing painting department where the primary responsibility is to paint parts using manual paint guns while adhering to operational and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Applies powder paint coating using manual paint guns while remaining in compliance with all operational and quality standards.
- Promotes and maintains a safe work environment.
- Test and adjust equipment prior to parts arriving at paint booth.
- Preform preventative maintenance on powder booth, spray parts, etc.
- Utilize a paint gun to paint / powder coat refrigerated display case parts on a suspended conveyor.
- Adjust line speed to correspond with parts being painted.
- Perform color changes following established procedures and time limits.
- Inspect completed parts exiting the paint booth for defects and notify lead/supervisor as required.
- Utilize a tape measure, reading to the nearest 1/16".
- Maintain work area in clean, safe and organized manner.
- Effectively interact and communicate with paint line team leaders and team members.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time-to-time as directed by supervision.
What are the basic qualifications?
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Pass Hill PHOENIX certification training.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing painting position or powder coating experience is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements
- May be required to perform specific tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling.
- Must be able to lift with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs.).
- Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
