Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces.
- Performs building exterior and interior caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
- Operates equipment such as airless spray equipment, scaffolding, and motorized lifts.
- Uses mechanized high-reach equipment to renew finishes on exterior building surfaces.
- Performs special refinishing tasks including wood surface preparation, staining, and sealing.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs drywall repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing finished walls.
- Communicates painting projects to provide estimated times and material quantities required; selects appropriate surface coatings.
- Performs miscellaneous duties assigned that will assist other functions of Facilities Maintenance.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Skill in selecting and applying paint and associated products.
- Skill in applying coatings and/or caulking and completing repairs to exterior and interior surfaces.
- Skill in wood surface preparation, staining, and/or sealing techniques.
- Skill in using hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Skill in reading, understanding, following, and enforcing safety procedures.
- Skill in estimating basic project times and material quantity requirements.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Almost constant exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises.
- Some exposure to hazards or physical risks requiring following basic safety precautions.
- Considerable physical activity involving heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be capable of climbing and working from ladders up to 36 feet.
