Painter/Blaster

About the Role

An Industrial Journeyman Painter/Blaster will paint equipment and structures for protection and cosmetic purposes. The position requires maintaining, mixing, and having thorough knowledge of paint and other coating materials to ensure equipment or structures are painted and protected according to contract or specifications. Experience in spray painting, operating sandblasting equipment, and fireproof applicating is required.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to specified dimensions.
• Identify and mix paint and coatings as required and sandblast structures.
• Apply proper use and techniques (stroke types) for the paint/coating used and the item being painted or coated.
• Work at heights and off ladders and scaffolds safely.
• Maintain clean work areas through housekeeping and cleanup.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience working as a Painter or Painter Helper on an industrial construction project.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved in basic painting techniques and paint qualities.
• Ability to identify the relationship between materials to be painted and the technique, mixture, and number of coatings required.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
• Willingness to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Compliance with all company and site rules and regulations.
• Possession of all required tools.
• Willingness to assist other crafts when not actively working on a painting project.
• Ability to meet all physical requirements of the role.
