Painter/Blaster

About the role

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Painter/Blaster for their plant located in Clinton, IL. The ideal candidate will prepare metal surfaces through abrasive blasting to remove rust, scale, and contaminants, followed by applying protective coatings and industrial paint.

Responsibilities

• Ensure surfaces meet required blast profiles
• Verify paint reactor is performing as specified
• Operate airless spray equipment to apply coatings
• Set up, operate and maintain machinery used to apply thin metallic coatings
• Test millage of coatings (wet and dry)
• Oil and clean pumps
• Clean paint lines and paint guns and perform other cleaning/preventative maintenance to ensure painting apparatus remain in working order
• Consistently achieve proper dry film thickness and defect-free paint jobs with no pinholes, sags, runs or orange peel
• Perform other job duties as assigned

Requirements

• Experience performing splicing and feathering processes to meet quality standards
• Successful experience applying all kinds of coatings and applies prime and finish coats on industrial products
• Thorough knowledge of safety and paint equipment including sizing tips, pump pressures, re-coat times and effects of weather on any applicable paint system
• The ability to maintain reliable and predictable good attendance
• A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly range, commensurate with background/experience, - $23.00 – $28.00+/hour
