Painter

What You Will Do

• Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
• Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
• Sands surfaces with sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool, and removes old paint with paint remover, a scraper, a wire brush, or a blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting.
• Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, drywall, or other filler, using caulking gun and putty knife.
• Removes fixtures, such as pictures and electric switch covers, from walls prior to painting, using screwdriver.
• Cleans up areas when all painting is completed.
• Manages and maintains painting tools, equipment, and materials.
• Paints surfaces, using brushes, aerosol, or paint rollers.
• Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects. Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to match repaired item.
• Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
• Hangs wallpaper and fabrics, as requested.
• Sets up containment barrier for certain applications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• 1-3 years previous experience in the building maintenance field, preferably as a painter.
• Ability to lift, pull, push up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Requires a detail oriented, independent thinker who can be a part of a team and demonstrates strong attention to detail.
• Reliable and dependable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.
• Basic understanding of safety practices.
• Requires use of technology platforms on a daily basis.
• DL NUMBER - Driver's License, Valid and in State Required.
• May require lead-based paint certification.

Compensation

We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The hiring range for this position is generally between $22.61 - $27.03, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity.
