Painter Assistant - Weekend Shift

About the Role

Responsible for supporting and assisting professional painters in their daily tasks, including using, supplying, holding materials or tools, cleaning the work area, and setting up parts to paint.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques using spray painting equipment, power tools, and work aids.
• Strip, sand, mask, and touch up surfaces, manually blending finish to match surrounding areas.
• Regulate controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings.
• Clean spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with industry standards.
• Record types and amounts of paints used for environmental regulation reporting.
• Record completion of painting operations on planning documents.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by cleaning the paint booth area and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisors or management, and interact well with co-workers.
• Cross-train in different processes within the department.
• Clean the site after painting work is completed.
• Perform other various duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency, including data entry into manufacturing software systems.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
