Painter - 40hrs/Day Shift

About the role

Paints and decorates by requisitioning materials from inventory or placing orders. Prepares surfaces by scraping, applying paint removers, filling cracks, sealing holes, sizing plaster walls, and placing drop cloths. Mixes and applies paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, and structures.

Responsibilities

• Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs based on surface measurements or work orders.
• Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
• Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect during painting.
• Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
• Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting.
• Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure proper adhesion of finishes.
• Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
• Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma required.
• 3-5 years of related experience required.

Pay

$18.78 - $26.80/hour.
