Painter - 1st shift
About the role
We are seeking a Painter to support manufacturing operations by operating batch and automated powder coat paint systems to ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications. In this role, you will prepare products for painting, apply coatings, monitor paint processes, and maintain equipment while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality production. You will work closely with production teams to ensure finished products meet appearance, durability, and performance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Load products onto the paint line for processing and finishing.
- Mask and plug non-painted sections of products according to work instructions, blueprints, or specifications.
- Unload finished products and package them appropriately for shipment or storage.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining powder and chemical levels for batch and automated paint systems.
- Operate spray equipment to apply chemical washes and powder coating finishes in accordance with work orders and quality requirements.
- Clean and maintain the EV room, paint guns, venturis, hoses, tips, and related equipment daily and during color changeovers.
- Utilize computers or tablets to complete work transactions and close work orders within the production system.
- Perform routine inspections to identify quality concerns and ensure finished products meet specifications.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during a work shift.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to carry objects and perform physical activities including reaching, stretching, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to pass a respirator physical and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use production systems through a computer or tablet.
- Experience operating powder coat paint systems or industrial finishing equipment.
- Experience applying powder coating, paint, or industrial surface finishes in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency using computers, tablets, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience following work instructions, blueprints, or manufacturing specifications.
- Knowledge of paint application processes, quality inspection methods, or continuous improvement practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Associate degree, technical diploma, certification, or equivalent training.
