Paint Technician - 2nd Shift - 1073

Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 3:00 pm–1:00 am with a 10%–15% shift premium, paid lunch, and 3-day weekends. Eligibility to transfer to 1st shift after 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Mask and tape aircraft parts to avoid overspray
• Sand primer
• Blow and clean aircraft with thinner
• Wash the paint booth
• Apply all layers of paint including top coat
• Lay out stripe and design schemes
• Prep and scuff paint for trim
• Re-mask aircraft and perform detail work
• Inspect completed paint jobs
• Mix and match paint
• Communicate effectively in English
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or valid passport preferred

Experience Levels

• Tech I: 0–2 years paint experience in aviation, auto, RV, marine or related field; limited knowledge; close supervision required
• Tech II: 2–4 years paint experience; considerable knowledge; general supervision required
• Tech III: 4–6 years paint experience; full knowledge; limited supervision; can mentor others
• Master Tech: 6+ years aviation interiors experience; exclusive knowledge; subject matter expert

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry 50 lbs
• Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
• Work standing on ladder or scaffold
• Pass pulmonary physical
• Pass respiratory fit test and wear protective gear

Mental Requirements

• Understand and implement OSHA, hazmat, and other regulations
• Logically work with mechanical processes
• Work professionally with others
• Good communication skills

Equipment Used

• Air equipment, polisher, and sander
• Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure pots, and laser level
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment

Working Conditions

• Majority of work in heated hangar or shop area
• Occasional work on aircraft ramp
• Varied positions in and around aircraft
