Responsibilities
- Prepare metal components for powder coating by cleaning, washing, drying, masking, hanging, and otherwise preparing parts for processing.
- Load and unload parts and products onto and from the powder-coating line.
- Apply powder coating accurately, evenly, and consistently to meet product specifications and quality standards.
- Operate powder-coating equipment, spray guns, paint booths, washers, ovens, conveyors, and related machinery according to established procedures.
- Monitor coating coverage, thickness, color, finish, appearance, water levels, chemical concentrations, and oven temperatures to ensure process quality.
- Adjust equipment and processes as necessary to maintain consistent coating quality and production efficiency.
- Inspect finished products for defects including missed areas, thin or excessive coating, contamination, discoloration, chips, improper finish, or other quality issues.
- Ensure all painted products meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
- Identify, report, and assist in resolving quality concerns and rework requirements.
- Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and deep cleaning of paint booths, washers, powder-coating equipment, and work areas.
- Follow proper color-change and equipment-cleaning procedures to prevent contamination.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and materials in an organized and safe condition to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of powder-coating materials, chemicals, and waste according to company and environmental requirements.
- Safely handle raw materials, finished products, and production supplies.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Read and interpret work orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and production schedules.
- Prioritize daily activities to maintain production flow and achieve established productivity goals.
- Communicate equipment, production, and quality concerns to supervisors and team members.
- Work independently and collaboratively to support efficient manufacturing operations.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production, quality, and operational objectives.
