Paint Booth Technician

About the role

The Paint Booth Technician sets up and operates powder and internal liquid coating equipment, ensuring pre-shift preparation, maintenance, and cleanliness of all related systems and work areas.

Responsibilities

• Set up and start up powder coating and liquid coating equipment before each production run, including cleaning air wash systems, injectors, hoses, powder coat guns, and liquid spray guns.
• Maintain all powder coat and liquid spray equipment (guns, hoses, airlines, liquid lines), performing repairs or replacements as needed.
• Replace return filters and pre-filters when required.
• Maintain proper powder and liquid coating levels in booths and paint pots during production.
• Clean powder room, liquid spray booth, and auto powder booths (ceiling, walls, floor) and reclaim excess powder before and after each run.
• Check film thickness (daily for powder, weekly for liquid) to ensure quality, document results, and adjust settings as needed.
• Perform impact and hardness tests (daily for powder, weekly for liquid) and complete required documentation.
• Manage time efficiently, work self-motivated, and escalate mechanical or quality issues promptly.
• Perform additional job duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a paint booth or on a paint line.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge and proper use of safety equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands

• Work in a plant environment with seasonal temperature and humidity changes.
• Capable of bending, stooping, crawling under/over equipment, and frequent climbing of stairs.
• Lifting, pushing, pulling, prying, and dragging materials up to 50 pounds.
• Overtime is mandatory when business conditions require additional hours.
