About the role
Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepare patients for health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room; provides examination gowns or shorts; assists them to position themselves, arranges exam room, instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Ensure all related reports, labs and imaging are available in patient’s records prior to visit.
- Supports patient care by assisting providers during exam; draws up medications for injections; completes records by recording examination, treatment and test results.
- Relays treatment plan to checkout receptionist.
- Keeps exam room and injection station supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.
- Ensures that patients receive appropriate competent and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient’s expectations.
- Adheres by staff to all policy and procedures.
- Reports monitoring and management of patient and staff incidents.
- Maintains standards to provide safe, effective care to the patients.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited High school program or higher.
- Certificate of training for Nurse’s Aide.
- Current BLS.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- CMA course preferred, not required.
- Possible, but not mandatory, 6 months of PACU/Medical Surgical experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and other medical staff.
- Basic computer skills, particularly for scanning orders and lab results into electronic medical system.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform age-appropriate care.
- Knowledge of sterile techniques.
- Ability to manage patient and staff incidents.
- Ability to maintain quality control for procedures.
- Ability to orient and mentor new staff members.
