Pain Management Nurse Practitioner 2 (NURSE PRACT 2)
About the Role
To provide independent advanced-level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure. This may include non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures. Patient management decisions are independent where appropriate after assessment of the patient and interdependent with consultation with an attending or other member of the team.
Provides patient care in a team-based care environment to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills and accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- 90% - Clinical Practice:
- In collaboration with the attending physician and pharmacist, provides consultation for pain management of hospitalized patients, including patient evaluation, reviewing medical history, and collaborating with the primary team to develop therapy or treatment plans to alleviate pain.
- Uses knowledge and pain management skills to identify effective non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment options.
- Possesses a high level of independent clinical decision-making and works autonomously and in a team-based environment to provide compassionate patient-centered care.
- 10% - Other Professional Activity
Acts as an expert resource person for healthcare providers, including nurses, residents, and other ancillary staff.
Requirements
- One (1) year of recent experience as a Nurse Practitioner in pain management specialty, adult inpatient hospital medicine, or inpatient surgical service.
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License.
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire.
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
- National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 7 days of hire.
- Graduation with a master’s degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.

Pay
Salary Range: $92.07 - $121.51 per hour
Schedule
- 100% of time.
- Variable 10-hour shifts.
- This position is 100% on-site.
