Paddock Judge - Seasonal

Responsibilities

• Verify horses are in proper paddock stalls according to race number and post position.
• Ensure proper flow of horses entering and exiting the paddock for the safety of participants.
• Make announcements of pertinent information regarding races.
• Maintain constant communication with judges on scratches, changes, and up-to-date information on race participants.
• Ensure horses are lined up and ready to enter the track for the post parade according to scheduled post times.
• Coordinate other officials working in the Paddock.
• Administer breathalyzer tests on live racing days.
• Maintain extra equipment in the paddock in good condition for emergency use.
• Be available to work during training, schooling, racing, or qualifying hours.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word).
• Must have a USTA Officials license.
• Must be licensed with the Ohio Racing Commission.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.
• Able to respond to visual and oral cues.
• Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded or noisy environments.

Skills

• Knowledgeable on rules and regulations of The Ohio Racing Commission.
• Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations, including the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

Pay

Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is one component of a competitive Total Rewards package.
