About the role

United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring Staff Registered Nurses for our PACU team at UHS Wilson Medical Center. PACU is a fast-paced and collaborative environment working with a wide variety of patients, thriving on the rewarding feeling of working together as a team to manage patients' pain and see them improve rapidly.

Part-time, 24-hour day and night rotation positions available. You will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities, including UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY, and UHS Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, NY. Your recruiter and hiring manager will clarify expectations during the interview process.

Schedule

8-hour shifts; weekends and holidays are on call. Multiple shifts available.

Pay

Compensation range: $40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience. You will be eligible for benefits if hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact.
• Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
• Utilize a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
• Share responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
• Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
• Actively participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
• Engage in professional development, continuing nursing education, and complete all mandatory education requirements.
• Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.

Requirements

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing.
• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
• CCRN or relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
