About the role
United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring Staff Registered Nurses for our PACU team at UHS Wilson Medical Center. PACU is a fast-paced and collaborative environment working with a wide variety of patients, offering the rewarding experience of managing patients' pain and seeing rapid improvement through teamwork.
This is a part-time, 24-hour position with day and night rotation shifts. The role may require working at multiple UHS facilities, including UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY, and UHS Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, NY. Expectations for floating across locations will be clarified during the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as a primary or accountable nurse.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Administer medications safely according to UHS Hospitals policy, utilizing a working knowledge of pharmacology.
- Share responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
- Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
- Actively participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model by engaging in unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review practices.
- Engage in professional development, continuing nursing education, and complete all mandatory education requirements.
- Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
- Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
- Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
Requirements
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License (required).
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (required).
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting (preferred).
- Relevant skills certification (e.g., CCRN, ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by assigned unit (preferred).
Pay
Compensation range: $40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
- Part-time, 24-hour positions with day and night rotation.
- 8-hour shifts; weekends and holidays are on call.
- Multiple shifts available.
