PACU Registered Nurse

Position Purpose

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

What You Will Do

• Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries.
• Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
• A valid RN license in Connecticut.

Preferred Candidates

• One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.
• Emergency Room or ICU nurses with 2+ years of experience demonstrating expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.

Note

BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC) and ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire) are required. Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines is preferred.

Position Highlights and Benefits

• Full-Time – 30 hours/week – Evening Shift
• Three 10-hour shifts, every 3rd weekend, with variable start times.
• On-call requirements based on unit needs. On-call may be required to support off shifts, such as Nights.
• Specialty pay available for experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience.
• Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $36.15 – $59.95/hour.
