About the role
Sectra is looking for an experienced Integration Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with 5–10 years of integration engineering experience who is excited to deepen their expertise in healthcare interoperability.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and support healthcare interfaces between Sectra solutions and third-party clinical systems.
- Build and maintain HL7, DICOM, FHIR, XML, JSON, REST API, and URL-based integrations using tools such as Mirth Connect and other interoperability technologies.
- Lead the integration portion of customer implementation projects from requirements gathering through deployment and production support.
- Meet directly with customers to understand workflows, technical environments, and interface requirements, translating business needs into scalable integration solutions.
- Evaluate customer requests against Sectra best practices and recommend technical solutions that promote long-term stability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Configure, test, validate, and troubleshoot interfaces to ensure reliable and secure exchange of clinical data across healthcare systems.
- Perform interface testing, data validation, and integrity checks to ensure accurate transmission of patient information and compliance with project specifications.
- Investigate and resolve complex interoperability issues involving message formatting, routing, transformations, and third-party application connectivity.
- Collaborate with project managers, application specialists, technical engineers, developers, and customer IT teams throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Develop technical documentation, interface specifications, and implementation guides while contributing to internal knowledge sharing and continuous process improvement.
- Become a trusted technical advisor for customers, confidently discussing integration architecture, implementation approaches, and technical best practices.
- Deliver technical knowledge transfers, customer training sessions, and deep-dive discussions as needed.
- Continue expanding your expertise in healthcare interoperability standards, integration technologies, and Sectra's Enterprise Imaging platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5–10 years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting system integrations.
- Experience working with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and/or DICOM.
- Experience developing or supporting integrations using technologies such as Mirth Connect (or another interface engine), XML, JSON, REST APIs, or similar integration technologies.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical and interoperability issues.
- Experience working directly with customers to gather technical requirements and implement integration solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and produce clear technical documentation.
- Willingness to participate in occasional after-hours support for customer go-lives and planned implementations.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHRs), PACS, RIS, LIS, or other clinical healthcare systems.
- Experience implementing integrations within hospitals, health systems, or other healthcare organizations.
- Experience with FHIR, healthcare APIs, or other modern interoperability standards.
- Familiarity with SQL, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, etc.), or database troubleshooting.
- Experience leading the integration workstream during software implementation projects.
- Knowledge of healthcare workflows, clinical operations, or medical imaging environments.
- Experience with cloud-based integration technologies or enterprise software implementations.

- We recruit on an ongoing basis, and the goal is for the right candidate to start as soon as possible.
- The salary range for this position is $95,000–$125,000, based on experience and qualifications.
