Essential Duties, Functions And Responsibilities
- Counsels daily monitoring of all clinical areas with Radiology imaging access to ensure all staff are able to access Radiology Images adequately to maintain continuity of patient care.
- Supports imaging management and provides solutions for recurrent problems in areas needing assistance.
- Ensures Radiology images cross between systems promptly and are correctly labeled and transferred with accurate patient data.
- Checks the PACS system daily for accuracy, troubleshoots and resolves issues or errors.
- Serves as a liaison for Radiology Services and Medical Staff, assisting in learning how to work with varying imaging systems.
- Serves as a liaison between Radiology Services and IT and Healthcare Technology Management staff to ensure systems work together effectively.
- Maintains compatibility of the latest software updates/revisions with the Radiology System and has contingency plans for emergencies.
- Monitors and administers all PACS related portals, communicates unread/unreconciled exams to clinical teams, and manages the primary PACS system in collaboration with vendors and strategic partners.
- Assists with managing, supporting, interfacing, or training of various PACS systems used by groups with whom FDIHB has contractual reading relationships.
- Reconciles and troubleshoots daily report distribution to referring physicians.
- Coordinates with Radiologists, Technologists, IT, and Health Information Management staff to ensure seamless operation of the PACS system.
- Responds to on-call services in a timely manner and performs 24/7 maintenance of systems.
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Two (2) years of direct work experience in Health Information Technology (HIT) and/or Radiology PACS systems.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Radiology Information System (RIS), Health Information Technology (HIT), or Information Technology (IT).
- Licenses/Certifications: Certified PACS Associate (CPAS) through the PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association (PARCA) and must maintain certification, or Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) through the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) and must maintain certification.

FDIHB and its facilities are located within the Navajo Nation and, in accordance with Navajo Nation law, has implemented a Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy. Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for this position and who are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation will be given primary preference in hiring and employment for this position and members of other federally-recognized Indian tribes will be given secondary preference. Other candidates will be considered only after all candidates entitled to primary or secondary preference have been fully considered.
