Packing/Shipping Associate (Weekend)

Internal job bid alert – open from 8/18/2026 noon CST to 8/25/2026 noon CST. Selection is based on seniority; associates must be in good standing throughout the process.

About the role

Primary focus is in the packing and shipping department on the weekend shift. The associate will work throughout the department as needed to package and/or load furniture for shipment to customers, following standard operating procedures to meet daily departmental goals in safety, service, quality, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Practice safe work habits and adhere to company personal protective equipment standards.
• Follow Williams-Sonoma policies with a positive attitude and professional courtesy.
• Perform daily tasks promptly and accurately to achieve production goals using documented Standard Operating Procedures.
• Collaborate with associates and leadership to maximize productivity while ensuring quality and safety.
• Communicate openly with leadership to address issues and obstacles.
• Package and load furniture at a minimum rate of 6 pieces per hour (goal of 8 pieces per hour).
• Ensure tags, tickets, and rolls are correctly placed on items for accurate inventory tracking.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of packing/shipping experience in a warehouse operations environment.
• Good math and reading skills; ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to read production tickets and interpret simple instructions in standard operating procedures.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet delivery requirements.
• Strong teamwork, sense of urgency, and time management to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred).
• Packing and shipping experience in a furniture manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Previous leadership experience (preferred).
• Basic computer skills (preferred).
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) (preferred).

Physical requirements

• Ability to stand for 12-hour periods and bend/twist at waist and knees.
• Frequently lift and carry items weighing 20–25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
