Packing/Mechanical Engineer III

About the role

Textron Systems is seeking a Full time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on transportation packaging. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidiscipline team. The position requires experience integrating component design solutions into an overall assembly.

Responsibilities

• Writing specifications for, or designing, packaging for transportation, storage and handling of deliverable items weighing from a few to up to several hundred pounds
• Participating in the detailed design of structural components
• Being a member of a team responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems
• Creation of Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for component and assemblies of mechanical and electro-mechanical applications
• Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro-mechanical detail and assembly drawings
• Trans Transitioning product design to production and test
• Writing technical and proposal documents
• Creating detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results

Qualifications

• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes, and structural design
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 transport requirements, including but not limited to: shock, vibration, environmental hazards
• The candidate should be well versed in CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools and understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in a related field
• Possesses or has ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance
