About the role
Shimano North America Holding, Inc. is a global company offering top labels and brands in the sporting community. We are seeking a Packing Lead to lead daily operations within the department, ensuring accurate and timely packing processes with maximum efficiency. This role involves coaching and assisting packing team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the Packing team and training new hires in packing area processes and procedures.
- Provide direction and guidance to subordinates.
- Understand and train others on special handling and shipping instructions.
- Organize and prioritize orders for efficiency.
- Research product discrepancies.
- Order selection per picking ticket requirements.
- Maintain accuracy, cleanliness, and pack rate averages.
- Pack orders in all areas, including conveyable, consolidated, and rods, as necessary.
- Use Crown forklift stock pickers and reach lifts when necessary.
- Packing, labeling, and stacking orders with the team.
- Work overtime as business requires.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift operations experience (Crown reach/order selector).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively.
- Leadership experience is a plus.
- Computer literate with AS400 knowledge/experience preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and perform basic mathematics.
- Understand and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for safety, work instructions, and policies.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Working Conditions
Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning. The temperature in the warehouse may equal outdoor temperatures. The office environment is moderate.
- Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to the risk of electric shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift from overhead or below the waist.
- Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, and kneel.
- Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers, and lift (up to 50 lbs.).
- Continuously sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and key (e.g., computer, calculator, telephone).
Machines, Tools, and Equipment
- Frequently use copier, fax, and 10-key calculator.
- Continuously use writing instruments, computer, and telephone.
- Continuously use stand-up reach, propane sit-down, and picking lift forklifts.
