Packer (Press, Die Cutting, Thermoforming)

About the role

Ensure production and distribution of products is consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards. Maintain 5S in assigned work area by keeping area and equipment clean and orderly.

Responsibilities

• Perform all tasks necessary to complete product packaging within their assigned work area
• Inspect each load of product for any quality defects
• Place full cases onto conveyors to be moved to quality stations for final inspections or for shipment
• Stamp and number all required information on boxes for manual pack stations
• Ensure correct and legible information is printed on shipping boxes/containers
• Segregate spoilage and recyclable items, placing material in appropriate containers
• Relieve other Entry-Level Packers for breaks, lunch periods, or otherwise instructed
• Manage workload to ensure production requirements are met, as well as shutdown and start-up procedures are followed before and after completion of shift
• Communicate effectively with oncoming shift concerning any issues
• Record and maintain various production data
• Fulfill overtime requirements as necessary
• Assist in other areas as required by changing business needs

Requirements

• Manufacturing experience of 1–2 years preferred but not required
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Maintains positive team environment
• Demonstrates organizational skills and highly detail oriented
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
• Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation, including:
  • Walking or standing for extended periods up to 12 hours
  • Climbing stairs
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up to 30 pounds; lowering up to 30 pounds from a height of 4 feet
  • Pushing up to 250 pounds using carts or other tools
  • Visual acuity and depth perception
  • Working in various temperatures and humidity levels
