Packer Operators - 3rd Shift - Full Time - Kansas City, Kansas

About the role

This position is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of products through the production process at a highly automated meat processing/packaging facility in Kansas City, KS. Duties include ensuring proper ingredients/supplies are used, monitoring and adjusting machine settings, and notifying supervisors of maintenance needs while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic lubrication, inspection, adjustments, repairs, and cleaning (CLAIR LEAN Manufacturing).
• Contribute to a continuous improvement environment through line-side problem solving.
• Participate in the 5S program and Andon System (Stoplight) to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
• Perform perfect packaging checks.
• Safely and efficiently resolve jam-ups and equipment malfunctions.
• Identify material quality defects and take appropriate action.
• Weigh rework using a floor scale and Human Machine Interface (HMI) workstation.
• Operate a handheld digital scanner.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months of machine or packer operator experience.
• Minimum of 6 months of continuous work in the last 3 years.
• Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
  • Exposure to a cold/damp work environment with temperatures ranging from 28-42 degrees.
  • Lifting, pushing, or carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with repetitive motions.
  • Standing, bending, reaching overhead, and twisting for extended periods.
  • Standing 8-12 hours a day on a hard floor.
  • Physical lifting/moving and bending to stock material from inventory to robotic equipment (minimum 25 lbs).
