Packer Inspector

Position Overview

The Inspector/Packer is responsible for inspecting and packing bags to safely deliver the highest quality products at the best efficiency and lowest scrap possible using effective manufacturing methods. Inspector/Packer personnel report to the Shift Leader.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Follow all Key Operating Procedures, including but not limited to: Company and facility Policies, Safety – LTCT; use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules, Quality – PQCT, Bag Specifications, Testing Frequencies and Procedures, SOPs – Methods for performing work, SSOP/Good Housekeeping standards (keep machines and area sanitized and clean), Good Manufacturing Practices, Food/Safety Security, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), Food Regulatory and Customer Specifications
• Responsible for scrap, efficiency, and product quality
• Responsible for ensuring that box and tote counts are accurate as per the bag specification
• Learn to pack all bag specifications and at all machines
• Assist and work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and technical resources to ensure that issues are being addressed to optimize the performance of the line
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements
• Communicate positively and respectfully to resolve all issues
• Complete all documentation accurately

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in manufacturing preferred
• Ability to read measuring tapes and product specifications with mechanical aptitude
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Experience using pallet jacks and machine hoists is a plus
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
