Packaging Technician - Night Shift

About the role

We are seeking a Packaging Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for analyzing root causes for process improvement and cost reductions in our fully automated toothpaste packaging lines. This role operates 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

Responsibilities

• Operate state-of-the-art packaging lines at speeds up to 450 tubes per minute
• Handle packaging materials and finished goods
• Maintain cleanliness of the area and equipment
• Perform autonomous maintenance activities
• Assist maintenance technicians on preventive maintenance activities
• Conduct inventories of packaging materials and products
• Manage transactions in SAP
• Perform frequent quality checks and document results
• Document batch activity on computerized systems
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
• Comply with all pertinent procedures, work instructions, forms, batch documentation, and good manufacturing practices
• Search for cost savings and waste reduction opportunities

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, every other weekend off
• Basic computer skills (data entry, email, file access, Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Manufacturing or production environment experience
• Experience as a packaging operator
• Experience with equipment/machinery maintenance and changeovers
• Able to communicate and work with co-workers, management, and other departments
• Mastery of one packaging line measured by OJT certification (Line Clearance, Changeover, and Quality)
• Able to lift up to 55 pounds, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods
• Able to work overtime to fulfill business needs
• Able to operate industrial power lifts (pallet jacks and forklifts)
• Confident in basic math calculations, percentages, fractions, and decimals
• Familiar with different measurement schemes (e.g., Kilograms vs pounds)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple packaging technologies (TFS-80, TFS-30, FPS-4)

Pay

The starting rate for this position is $24.50/hr + 5% Performance Bonus and a 10% Shift Differential.

This role operates 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am.
