About the role

The Packaging Supervisor oversees all activities within the company's manufacturing area, ensuring production, quality, and safety standards are met. They are responsible for creating a safe work environment and providing necessary tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing problems, schedule production, and coordinate with lead times and shipping deadlines.
  • Ensure materials produced meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Direct setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Establish or adjust work assignments to meet production schedules.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist team members in solving work problems and motivating them to achieve goals.
  • Assign work duties to team members based on operational requirements.
  • Maintain open communication with team members and provide regular feedback and performance reviews.
  • Investigate performance concerns and implement disciplinary actions, if necessary.
  • Manage the hiring process for direct reports, interviewing and selecting candidates in compliance with company procedures.
  • Work with the human resources department to address performance concerns and implement disciplinary actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize efficiency and reduce costs or increase productivity.
  • Understand and apply lean manufacturing tools and methodologies to lead team in continuous improvement activities.
  • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Encourage safe practices and promptly resolve violations, including initiating rewards and discipline as needed.
  • Ensure team members and co-workers have the information and training needed to perform their job duties.
  • Supervise team members in a manner that enables growth and success through feedback, training, and encouragement.
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures and ensure adherence to them.
  • Use independent judgment to ensure team members follow company policy and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with management, co-workers, internal/external customers, and vendors.
  • Do the right thing, even when it is difficult.

Requirements

An individual qualified for this job must be able to:

  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Lead and inspire team members; must be able to relate to and build team working relationships.
  • Operate a computer and demonstrate PC proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers, team members, and internal or external customers.
  • Present information clearly and accurately.
  • Pay attention to details and pursue quality in accomplishing work duties and tasks.
  • Look for opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.

Qualifications

A minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two years related experience, is required. Verifiable track record of effective leadership increasingly responsible experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred. May be required to obtain a forklift license through Warren Distribution.
