Responsibilities
- Adhere to safe work practices, policies, and procedures, following GMPs and maintaining sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
- Operate packaging equipment including case packers, accumulating conveyors, line control devices, case coders, sleevers, cappers, and/or robots (loading corrugate, overwraps, caps, maintaining glue volume, changeovers, and minor adjustments).
- Fill in for other Packaging Machine Operators during lunches and breaks as needed.
- Set up equipment and materials for production runs and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Conduct and record quality checks and downtime events in Redzone.
- Foster open communication and maintain a positive attitude toward work and colleagues.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Operate a manual pallet jack and manage inventory in the inventory management system.
- Alert supervisors to major mechanical problems and report system abnormalities to prevent damage.
- Serve as a team player, upholding company values: Teamwork, Accountability, Innovation, Continuous Improvement, and passion for customers and consumers.
- Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and trainings.
- Ensure food safety and quality of Michael Foods products.
- Demonstrate proper handling and usage of cleaning agents.
- Train new hires as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
This is a night shift position following a 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM schedule on a 2-2-3 rotation:
- Week 1: 40 hours regular / 8 hours overtime
- Sunday: OFF
- Monday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Tuesday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Wednesday: OFF
- Thursday: OFF
- Friday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Saturday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Week 2: 36 hours regular
- Sunday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Monday: OFF
- Tuesday: OFF
- Wednesday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Thursday: Work 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Friday: OFF
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend shift change instructions, correspondence, emails, and memos.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication skills with other employees.
- Basic math skills and ability to apply common sense to carry out oral instructions.
- Ability to handle problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with food manufacturing and GMPs.
- Experience with high-speed packaging equipment or palletizing robotic arms.
- One to three months of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
