Packaging Operator (Night Shift- $3 Shift Differential)

About the role

A multi-skilled packing associate responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of packing lines while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. This role also involves identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the packaging hall.

Schedule

12-hour rotating shifts: Nights from 6:00 pm to 6:30 am, following a 4 days on, 4 days off pattern.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment and operating high-speed packing machines
• Mechanical background desirable, but not essential
• Ability to multi-task

Responsibilities

• Machine Setup and Maintenance: Setting up automated packing machines, loading packing materials, making machine adjustments, and ensuring proper sanitation.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Clearing machine jams, reworking defective packaging, troubleshooting machine faults, and maintaining glue and ink supplies.
• Quality Assurance: Performing and documenting quality checks throughout the packaging process. Ensuring compliance with all Quality, Food Safety, and Legislative standards.
• Safety Practices: Following safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, to safely conduct equipment operations and routine maintenance.
• Equipment Management: Completing Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) tasks according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to maintain equipment functionality and cleanliness.

This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to manage equipment autonomously. The position holder may also be trained to perform other jobs consistent with the skill level and physical demands of this role.
