Packaging Operator I

Shift: First Shift (Wednesday–Saturday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM)

Responsibilities

• Operate packaging lines according to established procedures and customer specifications while meeting all quality standards.
• Oversee activities of associates assigned to a specific packing area or product.
• Package product into bags, boxes, or totes per customer specifications.
• Document quality checks and enter into the system.
• Read and disseminate information on product specifications and packaging requirements.
• Assist in training new associates and cross-training backup associates.
• Pull product samples and test product mix, labeling, and/or weight against specifications.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality guidelines.
• Perform all duties of a Packaging Operator II.
• Maintain housekeeping duties around packaging equipment and in the warehouse.
• Responsible for lockout/tagout of equipment when clearing jams or performing basic maintenance.
• Perform basic adjustments to operating equipment to maintain finished product conformity to specifications.

Requirements

• Ability to work the specified shift (Wednesday–Saturday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM).
• Ability to work for the set wage amount.
• Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow directions/instructions.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift.
• Able to operate various office equipment as needed.
• Able to perform simple math calculations.
• Able to identify and locate product, which requires reading, counting, and printing.
• Able to operate spreadsheet software applications.
• Able to operate word processing applications.
• Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with associates and/or customers.
• Able to interpret material.
• Able to write numeric and alphanumeric characters.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred.

Pay

$19.85 per hour.
