Packaging Operator - Crew C
About the role
The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of packaging equipment while ensuring product quality, food safety, and operational performance. This role operates and monitors packaging equipment, performs cut changes, product changeovers, and equipment adjustments, verifies product weights and codes, troubleshoots equipment issues, maintains a clean and organized work area, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor packaging equipment, including scales, baggers, case packers, sealers, and related systems.
- Perform cut changes, product changeovers, and equipment adjustments to maintain optimal production performance.
- Change equipment parts and packaging materials as required.
- Verify product weights, bag and case codes, and ensure all products and packaging meet quality and food safety standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify defects, and perform basic corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Complete safety checks, centerline inspections, Basic Care/CIL routes, planned maintenance activities, and assigned cleanup tasks.
- Follow all company safety, food safety, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Use production systems to accurately enter required operational data.
- Communicate effectively with team members using a radio and support palletizing and other production areas as needed.
- Participate in daily meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-training activities when assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate effectively and understand both verbal and written instructions.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Must be able to go up and down stairs throughout the Shift.
- Must be able to be on feet all day (60/40 walking/standing).
- Must have a basic Mechanical and Computer aptitude.
- Understand basic Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds.
